Film: GreyFriars Bobby (2006)

Film Trivia: True Story adapted to film. Bobby’s owner, John Gray, worked for the Edinburgh Police Department as a night watchman until he died of tuberculosis on 15 February 1858. Bobby, who survived with John for 14 years, is said to have spent the rest of his life sitting on his master’s grave. Today, a small statue of Greyfriars Bobby stands in front of a pub, also called Greyfriars Bobby, which is located in front of Greyfriars kirkyard. Although the true story of this loyal canine refers to Bobby as a Skye Terrier the film actually uses a West highland Terrier to play the main role this lead to a lot of critisicm.

Film: Scooby-Doo (2002)

Scooby Doo: The character was originally created by Iwao Takamoto who joined his best friend “Shaggy” Rogers and the Mystery Machine team in solving mysteries. Scooby has a speech impediment and tends to pronounce most words as if they begin with an “R”, though most characters are able to understand him perfectly. His catch phrases include “Scooby-Dooby-Doo!” “Rooby-Rooby-Roo” “Ruh-roh, Raggy” (“Uh-oh, Shaggy”).
Film Trivia: Scooby-Doo is a live-action film, based on the popular Hanna-Barbera Saturday morning cartoon. Scooby-Doo was created on screen using computer-generated imagery, he was voiced by Neil Fanning. In 2004 the film was followed by a sequel entitled Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.

Film: Air Bud (1997)

Film Trivia: The plot revolves around a 12-year-old boy, Josh, who has an interest in basketball. Through a series of coincidences, Josh meets Buddy, a Golden Retriever who escaped his cruel owner. Josh soon learns that Buddy has an uncanny ability to play the sport of basketball. The movie generated one theatre-released sequel and many direct-to-video sequels. In each film, Buddy learns to play a different sport.
In “Air Bud” he played basketball. In “Air Bud: Golden Receiver” he played football. In “Air Bud: World Pup” he played soccer. In “Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch” he played baseball. In “Air Bud: Spikes Back” he played volleyball.

Film: 101 Dalmatian (1996)

Film Trivia: 101 Dalmatians is a live-action film produced by Walt Disney Pictures in 1996. When Pongo and Perdy meet and fall in love thay have 99 puppies who are kidnapped by the evil Cruella De Vil who wants to skin their fur and make a dotted fur coat. The Live Action Film is a remake of the 1961 Animated Film One Hundred and One Dalmatians (which in turn was based on Dodie Smith’s 1956 novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians). The car that Cruella de Vil drives is a Panther DeVille. In the original 101 Dalmatians animation, Pongo has 72 spots, Perdita has 68 and each of the puppies has 32.

Film: Lady and the Tramp (1955)

Film Trivia: The famous spaghetti scene outside Tony’s Restaraunt is one of the most romantic moments in all of Disney animation. According to legend, the film’s opening sequence, in which Darling unwraps a hat box on Christmas morning and finds Lady inside, is based upon an actual incident in Walt Disney’s life. After he’d forgotten a dinner date with his wife, he made it up to her by offering her the puppy-in-the-hat-box surprise and was immediately forgiven. The sequel to the film is called Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp’s Adventure.

Tramp is not a pedigree dog breed, he is a mix of at least one type of Terrier breed, possibly a Kerry Blue. Other dog breeds that feature in Lady and the Tramp are Lady’s neighbours, Jock the Scottish Terrier and Trusty the Bloodhound.
